In our first two years of operations we have embarked on a number of important Kids Love Arts initiatives to benefit children's causes:

New Orleans Art Supplies Drive

We are working with children whose lives were disrupted by Hurricane Katrina. We've donated art supplies for children in five schools in New Orleans in support of after school arts programs. While the Saints are playing football again and tourists are returning to Bourbon Street, funds for educating the children of New Orleans have been severely reduced because of devastating effect of the storm on the city's tax base. Providing support for children in the greatest need is an important part of what Living Love does.

Brooklyn New York Teen Performance Project

Living Love includes way more than drawing and painting in our definition of the arts. We are supporting students of the performing arts in Brooklyn, NY with travel and lunch stipends to facilitate their participation in all stages of development and performance of an Inter-generational Oral History production, in conjunction with Bailey's Cafe, a Brooklyn based charitable educational effort. The children presented an inspiring showcase performance of one phase of their project for Living Love board members and supporters at the Jackie Robinson Youth Center in Harlem in February, 2007.

Los Angeles "Skid Row" Children's Project

One often overlooked group of children in need is the homeless. According to the National Coalition for the Homeless, 1.35 million U.S. children are homeless on any given night. Living Love began its outreach to homeless children in the Skid Row section of Los Angeles. Living Love staff and volunteers brought some joy into some of their lives by hosting an Easter basket project in conjunction with School on Wheels. This Malibu based charitable organization provides after school tutoring programs to the homeless children on Skid Row (www.schoolonwheels.org).

Home Is Where The Art Is

Living Love extended its efforts with School on Wheels (SOW) to include an arts instruction program (Home Is Where The Art Is) to SOW's outreach effort starting in the summer of 2007, followed by a weekly after school class during the regular school year.

Home Is Where The Art Is has been expaned to include weekly art classes for homeless children at Salvation Army and Catholic Charities centers in Long Beach, CA, and at CAUSE's Centro Mujer women's center in Oxnard, CA.
